The John Mercer Langston Bar Association (“JMLBA”) is pleased to offer a scholarship for 2017. The JMLBA scholarship is offered to recognize and promote the academic achievement of a law student in Central Ohio who has:

1.         Demonstrated academic excellence and achievement in undergraduate, graduate and legal education;

2.         Shown involvement and leadership in community organizations that further the mission of the JMLBA;

3.         Aspires to a career in the legal profession that furthers the mission of the JMLBA and the legacy of John Mercer Langston (including promoting excellence and diversity in the legal profession and demonstrating a commitment to community service); and

4.         Achieved personal milestones or overcome personal hardships that are worthy of recognition.

Scholarship recipients will be notified on or before March 24, 2017 and will be recognized at the Capital University Law School BLSA/JMLBA/Ohio State University Moritz College of Law BLSA Gala on April 1, 2017.  The recipient and their guest are invited as JMLBA’s guest of honor to attend the Gala.  Scholarship proceeds will be paid directly to the educational institution, and may be applied toward tuition, books, and required course-related expenses only.
